Ethereum has completed it's long-anticipated merge to Ethereum 2.0!
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin tweeted about this exciting news saying
"And we finalized! Happy merge all. This is a big moment for the Ethereum ecosystem. Everyone who helped make the merge happen should feel very proud today."
Shortly after that tweet, he added a quote from Ethereum researcher Justin Drake who shared that "The merge will reduce worldwide electricity consumption by 0.2%"
SafeMoon Education Manager, Cats tweeted about the Merge as well, sharing a POS (proof of stake) image and tweeting,
"And there we have it! #ETH POS is live, huge congratulations to the #ETH Team & Community"
The Ethereum Foundation held a Merge Party just before the Merge took place on YouTube.
Vico reminded everyone to be careful of the scams and educated about the ways scammers may try to trick you, tweeting,
"Three ways scammers will try to fool you over Ethereum's Merge happening this week. Pay attention and stay vigilant. 🕵
- FAKE staking pools 🚫
- FAKE migrations using keys 🚫
- FAKE airdrops 🚫"

The Ethereum Merge Finally Happened
Ethereum has gone from a cryptocurrency token backed by a proof-of-work blockchain to one supported by a proof-of-stake blockchain. Proof-of-work (PoW) and proof-of-stake (PoS) are two different methods to validate cryptocurrency transactions.
Proof of work is a competition between miners to solve cryptographic puzzles and validate transactions in order to earn block rewards.
Proof of stake implements randomly chosen validators to make sure the transaction is reliable, compensating them in return with crypto.
