Blockchain Origin - Merkle Trees
The Merkle tree, which was conceptualized by Ralph Merkle of Stanford University in 1980, is frequently used in peer-to-peer (P2P) networks to address computing and memory space needs. It would not be an exaggeration to argue that Merkle trees contributed significantly to the success of blockchain technology.
What is a Merkle Tree?
Merkle trees arrange transactions efficiently, allowing an extensive amount of information to process quickly. This arrangement reduces the data and CPU processing used for verification.
In addition, Merkle trees create a tamper-proof system by organizing transaction data into a tree-like structure, where each level is created by hashing the previous level until a single root hash remains. This root hash efficiently verifies the integrity of the data, ensuring that any changes are easily detected.
Why are Merkle Trees Important?
Merkle Trees play a huge role in the efficiency of blockchain technology, Without Merkle Trees, the blockchain verification & integral process of transactions would take up too much space and take far too long.

UK to Impose Holding Limit on Central Bank Digital Currency
It is expected that the UK will set a maximum limit of between £10,000 to £20,000 for the upcoming release of its central bank digital currency (CBDC). This restriction is intended to prevent excessive withdrawals from the conventional banking system for the purpose of acquiring the CBDC. The UK government is currently seeking input and feedback on the adoption of the CBDC through a consultation period that will conclude in June. The introduction of a CBDC could facilitate faster and more affordable transactions and enable money to be integrated with smart contracts. [Source: Bloomberg]
