Japan’s International Payments System will test plastic cards for CBDC
Japan Credit Bureau (JCB), a Japanese analog to international payments systems like Visa or Mastercard, announced the start of its central bank digital currency (CBDC) infrastructure testing. The project will assumably prepare the payments platform for a national CBDC, which is currently being tested by the Bank of Japan (BoJ).
The infrastructure project, announced by the company in local media, will come under the title JCBDC and aims at adjusting the JCB’s existing credit card infrastructure for CBDC payments. The France-based provider of facial recognition technology IDEMIA and Malaysian Softspace will collaborate with JCB in the platform’s development.
The platform will consist of three major directions — a touch payment solution, an issuance and provision of plastic cards for CBDC and a simulation of the working CBDC environment. JCB also plans to adjust the mobile payment tools and QR codes, but in the later stages of testing.
JCB plans to develop a payment solution by the end of 2022 and start the demonstration experiments at actual stores by the end of March 2023.

Latest in Crypto Hiring: Binance.US Adds Ex-FBI Agent to Lead Investigations
Binance.US hired former FBI agent BJ Kang as its first head of investigations to build the company’s internal investigations infrastructure.
The executive is set to partner with US law enforcement, regulators and industry peers to mitigate crypto-related criminal activity on the platform.
Having spent nearly two decades with the FBI, Kang spent the last seven years in Washington with the agency’s cyber-crime team division — where he probed insider trading and online money laundering, plus hackers targeting crypto and TradFi firms alike.
“Close coordination between the crypto industry and relevant law enforcement agencies to identify and punish bad actors is required to increase trust and enable the crypto ecosystem to continue to grow,” Kang said in a statement.

Polkadot Co-founder Gavin Wood Offloads CEO Title
Polkadot co-founder Gavin Wood is stepping down as CEO of Parity Technologies, the developers behind the proof-of-stake blockchain.
Parity co-founder Björn Wagner is set to replace Wood in the role, Wood wrote in a Friday blog post. Wood is set to remain the company’s majority shareholder and plans to transition to Parity’s “chief architect.”
“I’ll be pointing my regained focus towards exploring how we can contribute to making Polkadot and Web3 more relevant to large swathes of the population,” Wood said. “This will begin by helping the community design and build several interesting chain-integrated social primitives which I think are crucial for us to deliver a true Web3 platform.”

Update: I’m still clutching my pearls to get the new version of our automated contract to you all. Over the past week, we’ve entered the final stage of a months long complete overhaul to our contract design. You have witnessed our new design fully operational that mitigates much of the negative pressure typical experienced by tokens that reflect other tokens.. we’ve overhauled that process. This transition has required us to implement safe sell down measures that need to be completed to have the correct number of BNB necessary to turn on reflections.
That process is currently active and can be seen on our charts. Moreover, close to $50k has built up for our liquidity injections from the “infrastructure rewards function”, that will trigger next. Once those items are complete rewards will be distributed in the following manner.
1. Does the holder have BBTF
2. Does the holder have more BBTF than the cost of gas for distribution.
3. Based on the time the holder has held BBTF, what is their proportional weighted distribution.
