Users upset that Binance's wrong-crypto-network retrieval fees have soared to 500 BUSD
On Oct. 18, the product team at cryptocurrency exchange Binance held an ask-me-anything session with users on Reddit. Of particular interest was a discussion that arose regarding retrieval fees for crypto sent on different networks than the recipient’s wallet address on Binance. According to u/Maxx3141, who brought up the issue:
“I accidentally send WETH [wrapped Ether] to my Polygon address two months ago. Your exchange supports Polygon, but just for MATIC. It was only like 100$ in value. I found out you previously could recover this for a 30$ fee, and I thought that was fine. But when I contacted you, I found out you just raised the fee to 500 BUSD.”
UK Law Commission to review international laws on crypto to consider legal reforms
The Law Commission of England and Wales will set about reviewing private international legal challenges involving cryptocurrencies through a government-commissioned project. The review, launched on Oct. 18, will provide clarity on how international law approaches emerging technologies like cryptocurrencies, digital assets and electronic documentation.
Mastercard will help banks offer cryptocurrency trading
Mastercard is looking to bring crypto to the masses by making it easier for banks to get involved. The payments giant plans to announce a program Monday that will help financial institutions offer cryptocurrency trading, the company told CNBC. Mastercard will act as a 'bridge' between Paxos, a crypto trading platform already used by PayPal to offer a similar service, and banks, according to the company. Mastercard and Paxos will handle regulatory compliance and security — two core reasons banks cite for avoiding the asset class.
