Breaking down Starbucks' web3 strategy and why it matters ☕️

Starbucks is rolling out an NFT loyalty program that will reward customers with access to exclusive experiences and perks. Their CMO Brady Brewer introduced the concept by saying:

"Imagine acquiring a new digital collectible from Starbucks, where that product also serves as your access pass to a global community, one with engaging content experiences and collaboration all centered around coffee."

Starbucks has historically been early to test out cutting-edge technology like they did with mobile payments, phone-to-pay, and tap-to-pay technology before it became the norm. Now, they have the chance to introduce millions of customers to NFTs and blockchain technology.

The company has one of the most successful rewards program with 26.7 million members. By launching their collection of branded NFTs later this year, they will be able to augment their existing rewards program by further engaging customers and building community. Starbucks has not announced which blockchain they will use but has confirmed they plan to use an environmentally sustainable platform. In coming up with this strategy, Starbucks consulted many blockchain and NFT experts and enthusiasts to understand the web3 ecosystem and create an authentic and successful user experience. I, for one can't wait to see how their execution plays out. What do you think?
