WestWind Energy-Shell Corp Partnership Accelerates under Push for Green.

(ShellEnergy) -- WestWind Energy has entered into a new strategic partnership with Shell to support its development of wind energy projects in Australia. Shell intended to take a 49% interest in WestWind and invest in growing and accelerating the company’s pipeline of new wind energy developments. Shell completed its acquisition of WestWind in the same amount and states in their press release that they intend to double their electrical output capacity to a whopping 560 terawatt hours annually (global), by year 2030.

“We are looking forward to working with WestWind to build a portfolio of wind projects to complement Shell’s investments over recent years across large scale solar, carbon trading and energy retailing,” Mr Nunan said. The new partnership will be entirely focused on future projects. The Golden Plains Wind Farm will remain separately owned by WestWind Energy with equity investor TagEnergy.”

The ‘Solar Canals’ Making Smart Use of India’s Space

(BBC Future Planet) -- With an average of around 300 days of sun per year, India seems like the ideal place to implement solar panels. However, there is a space issue.

"Land is relatively expensive in India and often has multiple owners, so the purchase of land involves many formalities. India’s high population density also puts pressure on the land, with an average of 464 people per square kilometer. Rooftop solar panels are one solution, but sunny space atop buildings is limited too," BBC explains.

In the Indian state Gujarat, they have found a solution! By covering the water canals with solar panels, they are not only able to use land efficiently and lower carbon emissions but also help preserve the water supply!

China Begins Next Phase of CBDC Testing with e-CNY Payment for Public Transport

With a central bank digital currency (CBDC) pilot test program, people living in various parts of China are now able to use crypto as a form of payment for public transportation. People living in the city of Guanzhou can take advantage of this program while riding the public bus on 10 different transit routes. Coin Telegraph explains that to use this new currency, "passengers simply need to download the e-CNY app, deposit funds and scan the QR code located in the bus payment section to pay for their ride." Another city, Ningbo, has made payment via CBDC available for the subway lines. To learn more about the pilot program expansion in China, check out the article here!
